Subarachnoid Haemorrhage after Stereotactic Catheterization of Intracerebral Hematoma

چکیده
The authors report the complication that occurred after stereotactic catheterization in a 71-year-old patient with a spontaneous intracerebral hematoma (ICH). After stereotactic catheterization, a subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) was found in the post-operative CT scan. An SAH is a rare complication related with stereotactic catheterization. We investigated the cause and reported about a newly occurring SAH after stereotactic catheterization.

OBJECTIVE To review the management and some of the recent advances in acute haemorrhagic stroke. DATA SOURCES Articles and published reviews on acute haemorrhagic stroke. SUMMARY OF REVIEW Hypertensive intracerebral haemorrhage or subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) from a ruptured intracranial saccular aneurysm are the commonest causes for an acute haemorrhagic stroke. Both lesions are often cl...
متن کاملOutcome of intracerebral haemorrhage patients pre-treated with statins.
BACKGROUND Statins treatment may have potential clinical impact in vascular disease beyond cholesterol lowering. Its benefits have been documented in cerebral ischaemia and in subarachnoid haemorrhage. In intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH), experimental models in statin-treated animals have better outcome than non-treated ones, but in humans the relationship is unclear. We investigated whether pat...
متن کاملLumbar puncture and subarachnoid haemorrhage.
Medical notes of 123 patients with subarachnoid haemorrhage were examined. No patient deteriorated at the time of lumbar puncture. All but 2 patients with associated intracerebral haematomas had markedly impaired consciousness or focal signs. Two of 30 patients with meningitis were initially diagnosed as subarachnoid haemorrhage, and one died without lumbar puncture. If consciousness is not mar...
متن کاملIntracerebral haemorrhage after the neonatal period.
Intracerebral haemorrhage is rare in childhood. We have reviewed the last 10 years' experience, in our referral area, of parenchymatous intracerebral haemorrhage in children from 1 month to 16 years of age. There were 27 cases, five of which were intracerebellar and two predominantly intraventricular. The commonest aetiology was vascular malformation (10), followed by haemorrhage into tumour (f...
متن کاملDoes the Volume and Localization of Intracerebral Hematoma Affect Short-Term Prognosis of Patients with Intracerebral Hemorrhage?
The aim of this study was to determine whether volume and localization of intracerebral hematoma affects the six-month prognosis of patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Patients and Methods. The study included 75 patients with ICH of both sex and all age groups. ICH, based on CT scan findings, was divided in the following groups: lobar, subcortical, infratentorial, intraventricular hae...
